This recipe for pickled red onions takes just 30 minutes to make and it is so easy. They add tangy flavour to sandwiches, salads and many other dishes

Ingredients
200gred onionspeeled and thinly sliced
150ml apple cider vinegar
50mlwater
1tbsbrown sugaror maple syrup
1tssalt
Instructions
In a saucepan mix the water, vinegar, salt, and sweetener and whisk well. Cook over medium heat until the mixture is warm enough so the salt and sugar have dissolved.
Cut the onions into tiny slices and add to a clean jar.
Pour the vinegar mixture over the onions and mix with a spoon. Press the onions if needed so they are fully covered with the marinate. Let the onions marinate for at least 30 minutes. You can keep in the fridge for at least 2-3 weeks.
