Porridge with Baked Apple

Ingredients

  • 1 cup oat flakes
  • 3 cups water or nut milk
  • 2 apples
  • 2 tbs walnuts
  • 1 ts cinnamon
  • 2 tbs brown sugar
  • 2 tbs honey optional

Instructions

  • Peel and slice the apples and put them in a bowl. Add cinnamon and sugar and mix well. Transfer the apple slices to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes. 5 minutes before removing the apples from the oven, add the walnuts.
  • In a small saucepan pour in the water or nut milk and bring to a boil, then add the oatmeal (I used rice milk and it turned out pretty well). Reduce the heat and stir continuously for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat and add honey (or other sweetener if desired).
  • Serve in a bowl and garnish each serving with slices of warm baked apple and walnuts.
